Popular Violin Brands

There are many violin brands on the market and it can sometimes be confusing knowing which one to pick when buying a violin. Here is a run down of four of the most popular violin brands

Stentor

Stentor is a very popular brand of violin. They produce instruments cheaply and sell them cheaply, mostly to students. All stentor violins are now made in China and made in bulk. They are looked over by quality control supervisors after they have been put together but aren’t hand assembled.

Stentor also sell violins in bulk to schools who then use them to teach with. The violin is fast becoming an instrument that is mass taught because it is so popular.

Hofner are a Germany based violin production company. They, like all the companies featured on this page, have a wide range of types of violin, from student to professional.

Their most interesting feature though is that they sell ‘white instruments’ which is an instrument which isn’t finished. They sell violins which aren’t varnished and come with only a fingerboard attached. Hofner also sell lots of accessories to go on the violin so you can build it up yourself.
